Hospice and End of Life

HOSPICE AND END OF LIFE

Are you having problems caring for a terminally ill pet at home? Does your pet have a medical condition that is painful or causing poor quality of life? Are you afraid that your sick or elderly pet is suffering?

Our team of compassionate, caring professionals can help you through this painful experience. We offer hospice services and will work with you to ensure your pet’s comfort and dignity during his or her last days and final moments. We can help you with these concerns and will make every effort to accommodate your wishes at this very difficult time.

Deciding when your pet may need hospice care or euthanasia is a very personal and private decision, the process can be emotionally and mentally draining, but that doesn’t mean you have to make this difficult choice on your own. Our hospice and humane euthanasia services are conducted with respect, compassion, and care. Before you struggle through one more day with a sick, elderly, or terminally ill pet that is suffering, call us to learn how we can help.

Is it time?

The single most difficult decision a pet owner has to make is whether or not it is time to euthanize a pet. It is so hard to think about, but sometimes the only compassionate decision is to ease the suffering through euthanasia.

You may want to consider the following questions:

*   Is your pet in constant pain?

*   Can your pet control his/her urine or stool output?

*   Does your pet have mobility issues?

*   Is your pet eating or drinking on his/her own?

*   Is your pet still enjoying daily activities?

*   Does your pet still recognize you?

*   Do the bad days outnumber the good days?

Who decides?

You. The decision to euthanize is always yours to make. If you are unsure whether it is right for your pet, you may want to discuss your feelings with either of our doctors. They will talk to you about the progression of your pet’s disease or condition and offer important information about your pet’s quality of life.

It is never easy for any of us to accept death, but euthanasia can end up being the most unselfish act of love we can offer a pet. We will do whatever we can to help you in this difficult time.

Preparations

The compassionate and professional team at Olive Animal Hospital will be here for you when you want to discuss your decisions. We will explain the process of euthanasia. We understand each family has its own unique set of wishes when it comes to saying goodbye and memorializing their pet. We will respect your wishes and will try to make the process a memory that you will cherish.

We can assure you and your family that your beloved pet will receive the respect and quality of care that your pet deserves. We believe that families in times of sorrow, desire personal attention, comfort, and absolute assurance that every detail will be carried out gracefully.
